CAI organizes three major national competitions annually: the Information Technology Service Industry Application Skills Competition, the Data Element Application Innovation Competition, and the National College Students Innovation and Invention Competition.

Outstanding projects from these competitions may be recommended for the "China Informatization Achievements Selection," a national-level recognition endorsed by the state.

The association serves as a bridge between the government and enterprises. Through market research, CAI gathers industry insights to assist the government in policy formulation. It also provides consulting services to enterprises, leveraging its communication channels with the government.

With the rapid development of new-generation information technologies, there is a growing need for national industry standards in areas such as data security, data elements, data assets, and artificial intelligence. CAI mobilizes experts to contribute to the establishment of technical and management standards, thereby supporting the regulation and operation of the market system.

International exchange is an important aspect of CAI's work. To support national strategic objectives, CAI enhances the global presence and influence of China's informatization industry by strengthening governance and cooperation in the global digital economy. Furthermore, it facilitates talent exchange between domestic and international markets through training activities.
